The trophy’s design incorporates the sacred Lotus flower, forged into 5 leaves, representing the 5 regions within the AFC.
Crafted from sterling silver, the trophy’s design echoes the pedestal often uplifting divine figures in Asian culture. Its gleaming surface reflects not only the triumphs of the winning team but also the unity and spirit of the entire continent. The Lotus flower is a symbol for peace, and the AFC Asian Cup brings nations together, competing in the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship.
The Master Silversmiths of the Thomas Lyte workshop spent over 230 hours in hammering alone, utilising a technique called chasing to create the stunning and innovative shape of the trophy.
Working with a life-size drawing of the trophy design, the smith’s used their lengthy experience to ensure the highest level of accuracy, creating a mesmerising, flowing piece of art that will stand the test of time.
