Our services

Can I order a replica trophy?

We receive many requests every week for replica trophies and awards. However, it is our company policy that we only make replicas for champions and rightsholders of the competitions or events they are related to. If you have won a trophy, past or present, and would like to commission a replica to be made, please get in touch.

Do you do repairs?

Yes, we do. As well as handcrafting new commissions, we are also constantly restoring and repairing many of the worlds’ most prestigious trophies and awards. Please get in touch, we will request photos of the damaged piece, your budget and the date you need the repairs to be completed. Please bear in mind that our highly-specialised workshops’ schedule is often full, frequently making it impossible to take on new restoration projects.

Does Thomas Lyte make travel cases?

Yes. For trophies in particular we recommend that you buy a travel case for your silverware at the time of ordering. We use all the measurements from the designs to create a completely bespoke tightly-fitting case that secures your trophy for travel and fully protects it from damage. Our default colour option is black, however should you wish to, we are happy to explore more colours with you.

Does Thomas Lyte offer display cases?

Yes. Display cases are a regularly used service that we provide. Much like with travel cases we use all the measurements from the initial designs of your silverware to create a completely bespoke display case. Our display cases should not be used for transporting your silverware, they will not protect it from damage. When we ship your order the display case will be shipped separately. Our default colour option is black with white padding inside, however, should you wish to, we are happy to explore more colours with you.

Do you make single replica medals?

Unfortunately, no. The design and set up costs for making bespoke medals make the price of single unit orders very prohibitive. Bulk orders from our clients allow us to spread that cost over their projects, bringing the price per medal down considerably.

Can you create a trophy using my company logo?

Our crafting team can make just about anything. Get in touch, we will ask you for a high resolution version of your logo, your budget and the date that you need the finished piece.

The order process

How do I order?

Get in touch. Use our contact form or call our office telephone number +44 (0) 207 751 8844. Our dedicated team of account managers are delighted to be of assistance. We will ask whether you have an existing design or wish for us to design for you. We will also ask for your budget and what date you need the piece to be completed by. It’s okay to not have all the answers, but the more information you can give will help us to identify the scope of the project and quickly fit it into our workshop schedule.

Do I need a design?

We are goldsmiths and silversmiths to Her Majesty the Queen and many leading organisations around the world. Our in-house design team are among the brightest minds in the industry, well-equipped to design from scratch on your behalf. We take time to research and explore our clients’ unique identity and heritage to find and highlight motifs that can be incorporated into the design. In many cases we also work side-by-side with our clients’ design team or directly with agencies. We are experts in the design and manufacture of custom commissions in precious metals. We understand how to translate creative artwork into exquisite bespoke silverware.

How much does it cost?

We don’t try to hide it, clients that commission bespoke silverware require a significant budget. The quality of our work and the materials used is world-class. We shake off our industry’s turn towards mass production. Our highly specialised staff and purpose-built workshops exclusively make each one-of-a-kind commission by hand. Small changes in the design can reduce the number of craft-hours. We always offer a range of options when possible to ensure we can offer you a competitive price. We offer a range of stock trophies and awards, for quick turnarounds and modest budgets.

What metal should I choose?

A key decision that needs to be made before we hand over the final design to our master craftspeople is, which precious metals should we use? While many commissions we create make use of gold, as Thomas Lyte specialises in medium to large commissions the price of gold becomes prohibitive. We will recommend a sterling silver base with gold plating instead of solid gold. Although sterling silver is a softer metal than the cheaper base metals chosen for silver plating, sterling silver holds more value and is easier to fix once damaged. With elite sporting trophies in particular, as they pass through so many hands throughout the year, the majority of our most prestigious trophies require regular returns to our workshops for repairs and restoration. While they are damaged more easily, restoring sterling silver items back to their original state is much simpler and over time could potentially be less costly than repairing items with silver plate.

How long does it take?

One of the key questions that we will ask you is ‘when do you need it by?’ Unlike most silversmiths and goldsmiths, Thomas Lyte’s workshops are purpose-built for the design and creation of unexampled custom commissions. The handcrafting process requires many weeks of meticulous work. From enquiry to delivery we often request at least 9 to 12 weeks lead time for a bespoke piece. However, we will always try to accommodate shorter lead times if possible, so don’t let this dissuade you. Get in touch. The experienced master craftspeople at our London-based workshops will advise where small tweaks in the design may speed up the crafting process and allow for tighter timescales. We offer a range of stock trophies and awards, for quick turnarounds and modest budgets.

Where do Thomas Lyte ship to?
