The winner of the inaugural AlUla Camel Cup, the pinnacle of the Saudi Arabian camel racing season taking place from March 14-17, will receive a priceless, specially designed trophy crafted from hallmarked sterling silver and 24 carat gold plate by world-class trophy makers Thomas Lyte.
Befitting a tournament with a unique fusion of modern and ancient, the trophy has been meticulously designed and handcrafted to incorporate camels and their historical importance to AlUla and the wider region by the skilled silverware designers and master craftsmen at Thomas Lyte. The London-based, Royal Warrant holders are luxury silversmiths and goldsmiths, world-renowned as the designers and makers of many of the world’s most prestigious elite sporting trophies including the Emirates FA Cup, the AFC Asian Cup, the ATP Finals Trophies, and most recently the DP World ILT20 Trophy in Dubai.
With an SAR80 million prize pool, the highest prize pot in the world per round of camel racing, the AlUla Camel Cup is held under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Chairman of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), and is organized by the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) as part of the AlUla Moments calendar, in collaboration with the Saudi Camel Racing Federation (SCRF). The prestigious event honors the Kingdom’s revered sport in the stunning backdrop of AlUla, a place of extraordinary human and natural heritage.

The AlUla Camel Cup trophy took hundreds of crafthours for Thomas Lyte’s craftsmen to complete. Handcrafted at one of the largest silver workshops in Europe, 10 world class silversmiths and goldsmiths brought each of their unique skills to the trophy making process, bringing to life the beautiful bespoke silverware commission. These crafting skills cover all aspects of silversmithing and goldsmithing, such as hot forging, spinning, planishing, polishing, plating, engraving and more.
As well as elite racing, the AlUla Camel Cup also comprises a gala dinner with live auction, and an arts-filled evening featuring global and local stars performing across music, art, and more. Embracing glamour and style, the AlUla Camel Cup – ‘the Ascot of camel racing’ – will showcase refined fashion events to be announced in due course. A unique cultural market, which offers AlUla-inspired food and handicrafts, is another addition to an experience bringing together ancient and modern, sport and culture, elemental and opulent.
