We have always been proud of championing women in sport at Thomas Lyte. With our key involvement in many prestigious competitions and events throughout the year, we want to highlight the vital role that the industry can play in inspiring the next generation. From crafting all four of the Scottish Women’s Football Trophies, to designing and crafting the World Sailing medals, we are dedicated to empowering women and girls across the globe by designing trophies that symbolise the impact of sport. Recently our team sat down with Business Development Manager, Meri Markoska, to discuss her role in inspiring future stars.
Meri reflects on her diverse career path and the unique appeal of working at Thomas Lyte:
Meri Markoska: “My role as Business Development Manager has organically developed over time despite my background being in fashion design. I felt a connection to the different, special and exciting world that Thomas Lyte offers as a luxury craft business in sport. We are creating history every single day, and I was drawn to that aspect from the beginning.
“That’s the uniqueness about Thomas Lyte, although people know us as best in class silversmiths there is so much more to it, it is colourful, vibrant and it’s all about helping different clients by bringing to life whatever idea they have.”
The commissions we craft are far more than prestigious prizes. They are symbols of hope, with each and every piece carrying it’s own significance and story:
Meri Markoska: “It isn’t just about the design and craft of the trophy, it’s the beginning of a journey towards continuous improvement and collective action. It represents a passion for creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for women and girls in sport.
“We fully understand the importance of creating trophies and feel a responsibility to inspire girls from schools and at grassroots level to immerse themselves in sport and dream about lifting the same trophies they see on television.
“Witnessing so many inspirational champions, such as the Lionesses and the Red Roses, lift trophies shows that we are creating history every single day and proves that women and girls truly belong in sport. It is these moments that empower women and girls to participate in sports, whether by competing directly or becoming enthusiastic supporters. Keeping active gives girls’ resilience, courage and a self-belief which is needed more in challenging times”
Meri’s role and passion for championing the growth of women’s sport is embodied by her work across her wide portfolio of clients:
Meri Markoska: “It was so refreshing to see that the Esports World Cup brought women into the competition, demonstrating the importance of inclusivity. I also love seeing this in World Sailing, where watching women competing with the men shows very special strength, toughness and a passion to be challenged.
“The commission for the Women’s Scottish Cup was inspiring in many ways but mostly by the idea that it has the same stature as the Men’s Scottish Cup, while still maintaining its own unique story representative of women’s football and contemporary style.”

We are passionate about growing women’s sport and are keen to inspire all girls to actively pursue their dream, whatever shape those dreams take.”
