Thomas Lyte were honoured to be the designers and makers of the, now retired, UEFA Europa League Player of the Season Award. Eventually replaced by another Thomas Lyte-made award in 2022, this award was selected by a jury composed of the coaches from the 48 clubs involved in the UEFA Europa League group stage, together with 55 journalists selected by the European Sports Media (ESM) Group.
Handcrafted by our team of silversmiths in London, the award was made from solid silver and 24 carat gold plating. It stands 36cm tall. Inspired by the stunning Europa League trophy, the Player of the Season Award was crafted by hand from a single sheet of silver and hand-finished using a historic metalworking technique to give a wonderful textured look.
The award was created from 11 individual spears of sterling silver, with ten spears creating a majestic crown. A commanding central and elevated spear then towers above the crown.
A total of 60 craft hours were taken to create a trophy, which went through a painstaking process of exquisite silversmithing, polishing and plating.
