Our London-based silver workshops handcrafted the UEFA Europa League Player of the Season Award for many years. However, a redesign of all awards took place for the inaugural season of the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2021/22.
Thomas Lyte were also commissioned to manufacture the UEFA Europa Conference League Young Player of the Season Award. With eleven UEFA Europa Conference League Team of the Season Awards. Additionally, our master craftspeople created all UEFA Europa League Awards for similar categories.
The history of European Club Football is the richest of any continental competition. The UEFA Europa League and Europa Conference League are, by football standards, relatively new competitions.
The Europa League replaced the UEFA Cup in 2009. The UEFA Cup had been a staple of the European club calendar since 1971, and itself replaced the UEFA Fairs Cup.
The Europa Conference League, meanwhile, is still very much in its infancy, and was first played for in the 2021/22 season.
Roma were the first winners of the tournament, beating Feyenoord 1-0 in the final in Tirana. That win represented the Italian giants first major win in European competition. It was also Premier League legend Jose Mourinho’s fifth title in club football. In short, the Conference League waited little time in carving out its own piece of history.
The first recipient of the new Player of the Season award in the 2021/22 season was Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini. Cup winner, Pellegrini scored four goals and three assists across Roma’s successful Europa Conference League campaign. His set-piece and open-play delivery was vital throughout the competition.
The presentation of the Europa Conference League awards takes place in August. The ceremony is just before the draw for the group stages of the following season once the league qualifiers have been decided.

Making new awards for a completely new elite sporting tournament is always a privilege.
The silver-plated UECL Player of the Season Award stands at 30cm tall, similar to the Europa League equivalent. Our custom awards experts set to work. Using processes such as spinning, milling, filing, soldering, polishing and plating components, we assemble the awards. Finally, Thomas Lyte ship the awards, after each trophy passes checks by our quality control team.
Thomas Lyte create each award to appear as if part of the “family” of awards. The Player of the Season is the largest award. The remaining awards for team of the season and young player of the season were smaller in stature. They were, however, similar in shape, and suit the branding of the tournament.
