Thomas Lyte are the designers and makers of the Premier League Medals. The Premier League is the world’s most popular professional football league; combining a high octane, intensive style of play and featuring many of the world’s best players and most loved clubs.
In 2016, the Premier League undertook a brand refresh, with the aim of creating a flexible brand identity with Design Studio. This process included reimagining the iconic Premier League lion logo.
Thomas Lyte were proud to be awarded the commission to design and produce a new collection of medals that would align with this fresh new vision; including all of the winners and runners-up medals for the Premier League’s domestic competitions as well as international tournaments and youth development league medals.
Our objective was to showcase the Premier League’s iconic lion logo in medals which reflected the prestigious nature of the competition. The result is an eye-catching collection of medals meticulously crafted in fine silver and 24 carat gold plate.
Presented in custom Premier League-branded presentation boxes, each medal is awarded with a screen-printed ribbon bespoke to the winning team’s colours. This requires multiple ribbon colour combinations to be stitched ahead of time as the league moves towards its conclusion and the pack of teams competing for the title become clearer.
The 2016/17 Season saw Chelsea FC crowned Premier League Champions, with the West London side becoming the first to be awarded with the Thomas Lyte-crafted medals.
Premier League champions medals are distributed to managers, players and officials as each club sees fit, provided every player has made at least five Premier League appearances.
