As official partners and silverware suppliers to The FA, Thomas Lyte has been crafting The FA Lions in innovative ways for nearly five years. Since 2011, Thomas Lyte have been the makers of The Emirates FA Cup, the designers and makers of The Abode Women’s FA Cup, and the restorers and maintainers of The FA Community Shield, reinforcing their legacy in English football history.
Produced in Thomas Lyte’s state-of-the-art fine silver workshop, the FA Lions are presented as prestigious gifts during international fixtures held at Wembley Stadium. These gifts are presented to a representative of the visiting team’s football association and serve as a commemoration of the fixture between the two nations. The Lions embody goodwill, sportsmanship, and mutual respect, making them an important gesture in international football diplomacy.
Each FA Lion is carefully adorned with a bespoke plaque, expertly engraved with the key details of the match, including the fixture date and the name of the Football Association receiving the award. The plaque is then affixed to a sleek black plinth, upon which the Lion and its accompanying shield are proudly displayed. The precision and artistry that go into each piece highlight the exceptional craftsmanship behind every award.
Recently, following the expansion of Thomas Lyte’s workshop facilities and the growth of their design team, the production process of the FA Lions has been optimised for an even higher quality finish. To enhance the accuracy and quality of the awards, the shield was newly reconstructed, ensuring that each FA Lion reflects Thomas Lyte’s unwavering dedication to excellence. This allows the partnership between Thomas Lyte and The FA to continue delivering iconic symbols of football heritage for years to come.
